Season 2026-2027
For over 65 years, experimentation has been a vital part of NDT's identity. It has defined our way of thinking and making, and how we shape the world of dance.
In the 2026–2027 season, we continue this journey, grounded in curiosity, openness, and risk, creating works with courage while never losing sight of who we are.

Season 2026-2027
Our dancers
NDT consists of two companies: NDT 1 and NDT 2. While both share the same artistic vision, each company has its own energy and distinct artistic voice. Curious to meet all the dancers of NDT 1 and NDT 2 for the 2026–2027 season? Read more here.
Special events
This season, we expand the programmes with a series of special events and projects that celebrate the artistic vision of Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT).

A new site-specific work by Crystal Pite
More infoOctober 2026
In collaboration with the private contemporary art museum Collezione Maramotti, Festival Aperto / Fondazione I Teatri, and dance company Kidd Pivot, we are delighted to present a new site-specific work premiering in October 2026 inside the museum in Reggio Emilia, Italy. The work, created by our associate choreographer Crystal Pite, will feature dancers from NDT 1 and Kidd Pivot. The creation will be inspired by the unique space and its artworks and promises an immersive experience for the audience. This project highlights the importance of site-specific creations within NDT’s practice and opens space for research, exchange, and collaboration.
The work is commissioned and coproduced by Festival Aperto / Fondazione I Teatri – Reggio Emilia, in collaboration with Collezione Maramotti and Max Mara. -

Jiří Kylián's 80th anniversary
2027
For decades, choreographer and former Artistic Director of NDT, Jiří Kylián, has been a defining voice within NDT and across the international dance world. Throughout 2027, we celebrate his 80th birthday and his extraordinary legacy with a special programme. In 2027, audiences can enjoy never-before-seen content online, including videos of Kylián's creative process, archival performances, interviews, and more. In September 2027, one of Kylián’s rarely performed works will be remounted by NDT 1, offering a rare opportunity to experience this masterwork. The celebration will culminate in November 2027 with a major event bringing together Het Nationale Ballet, Introdans, NDT 1 and NDT 2, to revisit some of his most acclaimed works. Additionally, we will organise a special presentation of the memorable Last Touch First (2008) in our NDT Black Box, with a uniquely curated cast, creating an intimate and unforgettable experience. Join us in honouring Jiří Kylián in a year-long celebration!

NDT Creation House
A catalyst for the future of dance
At NDT, we are a house of creation and a leader in contemporary dance. Through our Maker Pathway, we offer diverse opportunities that empower emerging, mid-career, and established artists to develop their craft—whether at NDT or in collaboration with our longtime partner, Korzo. By embracing new voices and perspectives, we act as a catalyst for a vibrant and sustainable future in dance.
With tailored programmes at every stage of an artist’s journey, we connect with new makers early, nurturing their development through choreographic labs, workshops, internships, and micro-residencies. Working closely with local dance communities and creative partners, we invest in talent and innovation.
Together with longstanding collaborator Korzo, we provide artists with research, creation, and production opportunities. Here We Live and Now showcases talented makers from The Hague, and Up & Coming Lab and Up & Coming Choreographers create space for emerging makers to research, develop, and produce work with the dancers of NDT 2. With our annual and much-loved Switch programme, we also support the development of our own dancers—giving them the opportunity to discover and develop their choreographic voices and artistic identity.
Additionally, we continue to deepen the relationship with our associate choreographers—artists whose vision enriches NDT’s repertoire and aligns with our artistic identity. Our pool of associate choreographers consists of Crystal Pite, Marco Goecke, Marcos Morau, Jermaine Spivey, and Imre van Opstal & Marne van Opstal.
