Welcome to the 2021-2022 season

Welcome to NDT’s 2021- 22 season, The Poetic Body. We are delighted to celebrate this season with you as we open our doors to a diversity of ideas, voices and approaches that explore the boundaries of the expression of dance and the poetic body.

This is a significant time for NDT, as we enter a new decade, a new building, and a new creative ground, building on the foundation of our first 60 years. The challenges of the pandemic have opened unexpected and innovative ways for us to question, learn and create; ways that carry us into this season with gratitude and a renewed sense of discovery that we are excited to share with you.

In dance, the body is our instrument, within every gesture lives a world of feeling and thought. The experience of art is an active, breathing, ever changing one that has the power to transform a room, a person, and a way of seeing things. Today, more than ever, we need channels of expression to help us examine the world and inspire dialogue across borders.

We look forward to sharing this new season with you!

Portrait of the company

Especially for the 2021-2022 season we have made a portrait of the company, combined in a photo book. It includes an interview with artistic director Emily Molnar about the company’s season and future, and many beautiful photos of NDT dancers taken by photographer Rahi Rezvani.

The way Goecke captures an unfathomable emotion of fresh grief versus clumsy compassion is stunning.
