Diversity & Inclusion

NDT aims to be a place where everyone feels welcome, safe and respected. This applies to dancers, employees, choreographers, partners, participants in educational activities and audiences alike.

NDT believes it is important to create opportunities for people with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. The company therefore actively works to promote equal opportunities, representation and an inclusive working environment. Diversity and inclusion are not treated as separate projects, but are embedded in everything the organisation does.

To strengthen this commitment, NDT invests in knowledge sharing, awareness and open dialogue throughout the organisation. The company also collaborates with experts and partners across the cultural sector to learn from others and exchange best practices.

NDT also aims to engage a broad and diverse audience. The organisation works to make dance accessible to people of different ages, backgrounds and levels of experience with dance. By collaborating with schools, community organisations and cultural partners, NDT seeks to reach new audiences and introduce more people to dance. In this way, NDT strengthens its connection with society and helps ensure that as many people as possible can see themselves reflected in and feel connected to the company’s work.

In addition, NDT highlights stories and perspectives that have not always been visible within the dance world. Through initiatives such as Recentering Narratives, NDT explores and shares the contributions of artists from diverse backgrounds to the history of the company and the development of contemporary dance.

NDT believes that bringing together different voices and experiences leads to new ideas, artistic innovation and stronger connections with audiences. For this reason, the organisation remains committed to creating an environment where everyone feels seen, heard and valued.
