About the work:

Figures in Extinction [3.0] requiem confronts our distance from death and those we’ve lost.

This work is part of the urgent and timely triptych Figures in Extinction.

  1. Dancer Jon Bond moves across the stage with arms raised as a projection of abstract lines of light appears behind him. Focused lighting sets the body apart from the dark background.
  2. Demi Bawon stands at the centre of the stage while other dancers move around her. Focused lighting illuminates the group against a dark background.
  3. Omani Omskirk stands at the centre of the stage with a white cloth draped over the arms. Three dancers stand behind in the light of a spotlight against a dark background.
  4. Dancer Kele Roberson moves low across the stage while a projection of branching lines of light fills the space above. The dark setting emphasises the contrast between body and light.
  5. Dancer Emmitt Cawley bends over a hospital bed while a second dancer stands behind. The scene takes place in a room with medical equipment and soft, focused lighting.
  6. Silhouettes of a group of dancers stand in front of a brightly lit projection of branching lines spreading across a dark background.
