ZŌ
NDT 1
Choreographer Ohad Naharin, an unparalleled voice in contemporary dance, is back at NDT. In ZŌ, performed by NDT 1 and set in our NDT Black Box, the boundaries between audience and dancers blur, creating an intimate experience like no other.
Performance dates: June 11 till July 4, 2026

Choreographer Ohad Naharin, an unparalleled voice in the world of contemporary dance, continues to reinvent himself time and again. Naharin began working with NDT more than 30 years ago, resulting in the creation of the acclaimed Minus 16 (1999) for NDT 2, as well as performances of beloved works from his repertoire, including The Hole (2013), which NDT 1 performed in the NDT Blackbox in 2023, to sold-out audiences and rave reviews.
In June and July 2026, we continue our long-standing collaboration with Naharin and present his latest groundbreaking creation ZŌ (2025) in the NDT Blackbox. For ZŌ , Naharin collaborated with DJ and composer Tai Rona, and together they created an immersive dance and sound experience in an intimate space where there is no longer any distance between audience and dancer. In ZŌ , the audience is fully immersed in Naharin’s world—filled with theatricality, multilingual singing, dynamics, and humanity.
ZŌ premiered last December with Batsheva Dance Company and can be seen exclusively in The Hague at NDT. The production will not tour the Netherlands.

For more than twenty years, photographer and visual artist Rahi Rezvani has documented the world of NDT. The Iranian-Dutch artist is known for his powerful, cinematic visual language and his ability to capture the essence of people and creative processes. For this series of performances of ZŌ , he was given unique access to the entire creation process.
From the transformation of the NDT Black Box into an intimate theatre setting to the rehearsals in which choreographer Ohad Naharin and the dancers shaped the work together, Rahi followed every stage up close. His photographs reveal the dedication, focus, and collaboration that lie behind what eventually appears on stage.
The luxury photo magazine is available in the NDT webshop for €8,50
