Senior Development Officer (m/f/x)

For our Marketing, Communications & Development department Nederlands Dans Theater is looking for a:

Senior Development Officer (m/f/x) )
With a focus on Partnerships & Campaigns

Full-time position (38 hours per week)

Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT) is one of the world’s leading contemporary dance companies. With two companies, NDT tours all over the world. Behind the scenes, a passionate team of professionals works every day on exceptional performances, talent development, education, research and new artistic projects. Everything revolves around quality, curiosity, collaboration and the power of dance

To ensure we can continue to realise our artistic and social ambitions, we are building the next phase of Development at NDT. We want to focus even more strongly on the substance: what do we as NDT want to achieve, who can we engage in this, and what new funding opportunities can we develop?

That is why we are looking for an experienced and enterprising development professional who recognises opportunities, knows how to forge new relationships and can turn an ambition into a compelling case and a successful campaign.

What will you be doing?
As a Senior Development Officer, you will link NDT’s artistic ambitions to funders, partners and donors. You will develop funding opportunities in areas such as artistic innovation, creation, talent development and social engagement.

In doing so, you will look beyond a single source of income. For each new initiative, you will investigate which combination of companies, funds, major donors, private donors and other partners offers the greatest potential. You will then translate this into a clear strategy and bring together the right colleagues both within and outside NDT. The Development Team comprises specialists focusing on various sources of income. In your role, the emphasis will be on corporate partnerships, fundraising and campaign development. .

You will be part of the Development team within the Marketing, Communications & Development department. You will work closely with colleagues from Marketing and Communications, the Managing Director, the artistic teams, Talent Development & Education, and Finance.

Together with your colleagues, you will help build a Development team in which expertise in relations, fundraising, private donors, partnerships, campaigns, marketing and communications is continually brought together to support NDT’s ambitions.

In practical terms, this means that you will:

  • translate artistic, social and organisational ambitions into strong cases for support and fundable proposals;
  • develop and lead integrated development campaigns, from funding targets and target audiences to planning, prospecting strategies, collaboration and results;
  • actively build new relationships with companies and other potential partners and funders, from initial discussions and shared ambitions through to proposals, negotiations and long-term collaboration;
  • work alongside the development and marketing communications team to ensure that campaigns and long-term relationship management reinforce one another;
  • advises the Marketing, Communications & Development Manager and senior management on key opportunities, partnerships, funding issues and potential risks;

Who are you?
You are someone who enjoys turning strategy into action. You spot opportunities where no detailed funding plan has yet been drawn up, and you enjoy doing your own research, meeting new people and developing an opportunity into a partnership, step by step.

You work independently, but actively seek collaboration when different areas of expertise are required. You don’t need to be a specialist in every form of fundraising. However, you are able to think across different forms of funding and know when to draw on a colleague’s expertise.

In addition, you will recognise yourself in the following:

  • You have demonstrable experience in developing new relationships, partnerships or funding opportunities.
  • You can translate a substantive ambition into a clear case for support and a compelling proposition.
  • You can independently research a market or prospect base and move from research to concrete acquisition.
  • You have experience of project-based working and/or projects involving collaboration across multiple disciplines.
  • You are comfortable discussing financial matters and can work towards a concrete request or investment.
  • You work in a structured manner and understand the importance of a good CRM system and clear reporting.
  • You have a good command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
  • You have an affinity for art and culture. Experience within the cultural sector or knowledge of contemporary dance is welcome, but not a strict requirement.

What do we offer you?
At NDT, we believe that employees thrive best in an environment where they feel seen, valued and supported. We place great importance on diversity, inclusion and equal opportunities, regardless of background, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability.

What you can expect from us:

  • A salary in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement(CAO) for Theatre and Dance, scale 8, up to maximum €5,974 gross per month based on full-time employment
  • 32 days’ annual leave per year for full-time employment
  • Membership of a pension scheme
  • A travel allowance based on 2nd-class public transport if you live outside The Hague
  • A travel allowance based on 2nd-class public transport if you live outside The Hague
  • Opportunities for development through education and training
  • Access to OpenUp, our mental wellbeing platform
  • A beautiful, spacious and modern workplace at Amare, in the heart of The Hague and within walking distance of Central Station and Hollands Spoor
