Begon bij NDT in 2020

Scott Fowler is geboren in Vancouver, Canada. Hij volgde zijn opleiding aan het Arts Umbrella Program, waar hij van jongs af aan werd opgeleid tot danser. Na zijn opleiding danste hij van 2012 tot 2020 bij Ballet BC. In 2013 werkte hij daarnaast als gastdanser bij het Canadese Coleman Lemieux & Compagnie. In 2020 trad hij toe tot Nederlands Dans Theater, waar hij sindsdien danst bij NDT 1.

Get to know Scott

Why did you become a professional dancer?

“I was always bouncing off the walls as a child, so my mom decided to enrol me in a weekly boys-only dance class as an outlet for all that energy. After a few classes, something just clicked, and I’ve been dancing ever since.”

What is it about NDT that challenges your artistry?

“NDT is a place where I’m able to explore a wide range of expression through dance. Embodying a broad variety of dance languages means constantly shapeshifting - challenging the body and mind to go beyond what is known or comfortable. What excites me most is all the possibility that exists within that process.”

How do you think art impacts your personal life, and the way you view the world?

“Art has taught me how to feel before I think. In life we are always trying to make sense of things; we even suffocate our emotions with explanation until every feeling demands a label. Yet the most beautiful moments of my life have been the ones that moved me for reasons I could never fully explain.”

“I hope to bring audiences to a place where feeling comes before understanding - where through movement, something unfamiliar suddenly feels deeply known. A place people can lose themselves, recognize themselves, and leave carrying something they cannot entirely explain.”
