Louis Pineau was born and raised in Tahiti, French Polynesia and holds French nationality. He trained at the Rosella Hightower School in Cannes before studying contemporary dance at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Danse de Paris. He then completed his post-secondary training at Arts Umbrella in Vancouver, where he also joined Ballet BC Annex in 2025 as a scholarship recipient. Throughout his training, he worked with and performed repertoire by internationally acclaimed choreographers, and created a work as part of the Young Choreographers Project under the mentorship of Crystal Pite. Louis joins NDT in the 2026–2027 season as a member of NDT 2.
