How and why did you become a professional dancer?

"Dance became a medium through which i could better understand and access the world that I live in. I chose to pursue this artform because movement continuously demands extreme receptivity, humility, curiosity, and growth.”

What is about NDT that inspires/challenges/deepens your artistry?

“My time thus far at NDT has redirected my perception of artistry as a whole. Each new creation and returning repertoire work is approached as something alive; constantly evolving with its dancers, never fixed. This challenges me to arrive wholeheartedly, every single day. Not only are athletic and intellectual engagement vital, but also emotional vulnerability in pursuit of something much larger than myself.”

How do you think art impacts your personal life, and the way you view the world?

“Purpose drives my life… and art is always purposeful. It knows no bounds; the more I learn, the more I realize that I do not know. Art teaches me to be both genuine and attentive, and is a constant reminder that there is profound meaning in nuance and subjectivity. Too, I am incredibly blessed with relationships that have been cultivated by experiences in this field; I wouldn’t trade them for anything.”

I hope to offer an audience the space to feel something genuinely… To recognize a fragment of themselves within a work and walk out of a theater more connected to their own humanity. If even for a second an individual feels seen or provoked in some way, for me the exchange is incredibly worthwhile.
