Auditions NDT 2
On this page, you’ll find everything you need to know about applying for an audition with NDT 2 for the 2027–2028 season.
Who can apply
| ✓ Age | This audition remains reserved for dancers aged between 17 and 22 (born between 12th January 2004 and 13th August 2009). Dancers of 23 years of age and older (born on or before 11th January 2004) can apply for a private audition for NDT 1. |
| ✓️ Training & education | Applicants must have finished, or be in the graduation year of a professional dance training programme. |
| ✓️ Dutch graduates | Dancers with Dutch nationality who will be in their graduating year of a professional dance training program in the 2027 - 2028 season can apply to audition for a full season internship contract. They can follow the same online audition application procedure. |
| ✓️ Timing | Dancers who are interested in joining NDT 2 for the 2027-2028 season will start in August 2027. |
Audition procedure

| Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 January 2027 | Audition weekend | After positive result of pre-selection: there will be an invitation-only audition at NDT in The Hague, the Netherlands. |
Follow the steps below to audition for NDT 2
Step 1. Online application
Make sure you have all the required audition materials ready before completing the application form.
AUDITION VIDEO
✓ Maximum duration of all video material: 9 minutes.
✓ Music (original sound) must be audible. Throughout the film, movement and music should be combined. Make sure to use music that is free of copy rights as YouTube / Vimeo might otherwise block your video.
✓ You must be clearly and completely visible, without any other dancers in the video.
✓ Use YouTube or Vimeo to upload your video. Do not password protect the video.
✓ Add the link of your video to the assigned box in the audition form, only add one link
✓ The video must be available at least until 1 March 2027.
Your audition video must include the following elements:
| 1. Ballet Technique | 4 short centre exercises consisting of adagio, pirouettes, petit allegro and grand allegro. | Max. 3 minutes |
| 2. Repertoire | 2 excerpts of contrasting contemporary repertoire. | Max. 3 minutes. |
| 3. Improvisation | 1 continuous minute of improvisation that displays contrasting phrasing, dynamics and use of space. | Max. 1 minute |

Learn the repertoire from the video, be sure to add this solo twice in your audition video: – 1 version without music at a slightly slower tempo. – 1 version with music. This solo has no specific counts for you to follow and only two musical landmarks for you to arrive at: – The first entrance with the slide finishing by the lyrics “…with broken arms” –After facing upstage and grabbing the skin on both sides of the waist, start the large walks carving with the arms when the vocals reach a higher tone and with the lyrics “It’s a race, a race for rats…” In addition to meeting both moments, we are interested in seeing your personal interpretation of the material and an exploration with dynamics throughout. |

MOTIVATIONAL STATEMENT
Prepare a short motivational statement (max 300 characters), explaining why you would like to join NDT.
PORTRAIT PHOTO
✓ A clear headshot / “passport style” photo. Recent and recognizable picture of your face in a close-up with a light and neutral background.
✓ High resolution quality.
Step 2. Confirmation
After submitting the audition form, you will receive an automatic reply with a confirmation email that we’ve received your application (check your SPAM-box). If you haven’t received the confirmation within 2 working days, please contact us via: ndt2-auditions@ndt.nl.
Please note, this confirmation does not automatically mean that you will be invited for the audition.
Step 3. Pre-selection
The artistic staff of NDT shall make a pre-selection based on the information and video that you have submitted via the online application form. We shall notify you by email about the pre-selection results by Friday 4 December 2026.
Step 4. Selection
Selected candidates will be provided with directions to our theatre as well as information about hotels or other accommodation by 4 December 2026.
Only selected applicants from the pre-selection round will be asked to join the NDT 2 audition.
All selected candidates are asked to be available on both days, on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 January 2027.
A selection round might take place at the end of the first audition day. Therefore, not all audition candidates will be invited to continue the audition on the second day.

Frequently Asked Questions Auditions NDT 2
Only dancers aged 17 to 22 are eligible to audition for NDT 2 (born between 12January 2004 and 13 August 2009). If you are 23 or older (born on or before 11 January 2004), you may apply for a private audition at NDT 1.
Wear clothing that you feel comfortable in and that allows you to move freely. Please make sure that we can see your dancing clearly.
Please check that your video link works correctly and that the video has not been deleted, blocked, or set to private. If we contact you and ask for a new link, please make sure it is accessible before sending it to us.
After submitting the application form, you will see an on-screen confirmation. You will also receive an automatic confirmation email at the email address you provided. If you have not received a confirmation email, please contact us at ndt2-auditions@ndt.nl.
You will hear by Friday 4 December 2026 whether you have been invited to attend the auditions in The Hague on 16 and 17 January 2027. Selected dancers who attend the audition weekend will be notified as soon as possible after the audition days on 16 and 17 January. During the audition weekend, we will inform you about the next steps and the expected timeline.
Unfortunately, due to the high number of applications, we are unable to provide individual feedback. This applies to both the online selection and the weekend audition. Thank you for your understanding.
No, there is no waiting list. If you are not selected, you are welcome to apply again in a future audition round, provided you still meet the age requirements.
Unfortunately, applications cannot be accepted after the deadline. You can sign up via this page to receive email updates about future audition opportunities.
No. Auditions are only possible on the scheduled audition dates. NDT 2 does not offer individual or alternative audition dates.
If this happens, please contact us as soon as possible at ndt2-auditions@ndt.nl. We will assess each situation individually, but we cannot guarantee that you will be able to join the audition at a later time.
