In our Up & Coming Lab programme, four emerging makers have two weeks to explore and develop a short work with the dancers of NDT 2, resulting in an informal sharing in the NDT Black Box.

For this first edition, we have invited Anat Oz and duos Sarah Baltzinger & Isaiah Wilson and Eliana Stragapede & Borna Babić. The fourth maker, Anna Ozerskaia, is selected through our exchange project with GöteborgsOperans Danskompani. An NDT dancer is given the opportunity to create a work for their season and, in turn, we invite one of their dancers to work with us.

About the programme

Anat Oz

In her new work for Up & Coming Lab, Anat Oz explores the role of the human eye in communication, consciousness, and the connection to our inner selves. By focusing on the interplay between vision and blindness, as well as the intriguing notion of perception without sight, she examines both the physical and symbolic significance of our eyes.

With a blend of dance techniques and holistic reflexology principles, Oz translates the smallest of eye stirrings into full-body movements. "I playfully build the composition of my work by positioning movement sentences upon natural structures, drawing inspiration from life's organic compositions." - Anat Oz

Sarah Baltzinger & Isaiah Wilson

What can be done with a body at our disposal? By treating it as an anatomical object of study, Isaiah Wilson and Sarah Baltzinger have created a visceral investigation of the limits and extremes of the human body. Freed from societal expectations, the dancers manipulate and explore moves and sensations, revealing the infinite capabilities of the body.

"We have created an imaginary world where we observe identities in a quest to possess ourselves, to seek meaning in the body that was attributed to us, all whilst being plunged into a universe of incoherence and absurdity." - Sarah Baltzinger & Isaiah Wison

Eliana Stragapede & Borna Babić

In 2025, Eliana Stragapede & Borna Babić founded Belgium-based dance company Paper Bridge, characterised by its refined physicality and emotional depth of the work. Drawing inspiration from everyday life and personal experience, the company blurs the line
between performer and person through intention-driven movement. Exploring body textures, relational dynamics, and the interplay between emotion and form, Paper Bridge embraces a subtle and personal approach to creation, where movement becomes a vessel for unspoken narratives. The result is a physical language rich in storytelling, sensitivity, presence, and emotional resonance.

For Up & Coming Lab, Eliana Stragapede and Borna Babić will develop the work Current. A journey through shifting motion of transformation, this piece traces the delicate thread of what connects us and what slips away. It moves along the line between holding and being held. In constant motion, the piece embraces uncertainty, allowing moments to emerge, dissolve, and reform in an ever-changing flow.

Anna Ozerskaia

Anna Ozerskaia danced with Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company and later moved to Sweden to perform with Skanes Dansteater. For over 10 years, she was a member of the GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, where she worked with renowned choreographers from all over the world, marking the beginning of her own choreographic aspirations.
In her work as a choreographer, Ozerskaia is inspired by communication and profound connections. She believes in everyone’s unique story and explores how building a true connection with a person she encounters can be translated into a performance in an intimate setting. Allowing the audience to pay full attention to one single story.

NDT Creation House

As a house for creation, we value experimentation, collaboration, and the development of dance artists. To support this, we have created a series of programmes – each connected to different stages in a dancer and maker’s career. By encouraging, guiding, and promoting new voices and perspectives, we are building a strong future for both NDT and our sector.
