NDTV: keep on watching dance
Podium Dans - Marne van Opstal and Imre van Opstal
In sixty minutes, the young choreographer duo Marne & Imre van Opstal tell more about their motives and we see what they have made with the dancers of Nederlands Dans Theater in recent years.
“We have both researched our own identity,” Imre van Opstal opens. “Sexuality, love, motherhood, womanhood: those are the themes we discuss in this piece.”
“Gender,” adds brother Marne. “Acceptance of yourself, but also from the outside. Are others able to love you if you expose yourself? ” (Het Parool, 2021)

Rarely does the audience get an intimate look at the work and think process of great choreographers. What happens in a studio? How are certain choices made? What is the artistic process between choreographer and dancer, and between dancer and music? The program Podium Dans is dedicated to uncovering these apparent mysteries. On NDTV we show a series of interviews with the most famous makers of Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT), made by Manon Lichtveld and Bas Westerhof (Beat The Dutch Films) for NPO Cultura. Never before has the public been given access to the artistic minds behind the most memorable creations of the company.
