Assistant to the Artistic Director and Managing Director (m/f/x)

100% employment (38 hours per week)

Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT) is one of the world’s leading contemporary dance companies. With two companies and a total of 48 dancers, NDT travels all over the world. Behind the scenes, a dedicated team of around 70 professionals ensures every performance is a world-class experience. From light and sound design to medical support and education, every detail matters – and so do you.

We are looking for an independent and meticulous colleague to support our directors.

What You’ll Do

In this position, you will support the artistic director and managing director in various areas.

  • You will be responsible for preparing and following up on management meetings. Together with the directors, you will prepare the meetings of the management team, take minutes, and coordinate and monitor the progress of actions resulting from these meetings.
  • You will assist in drafting substantive (internal) documents, read the correspondence of both directors, anticipate any actions that may arise from this, and communicate with external parties.
  • You will manage the external contacts in the management’s professional network. You will act as the first point of contact for the board of directors.
  • You will manage and coordinate the diaries of both directors, creating both internal and external meetings, initiate and process correspondence, handle (international) phone calls and email traffic, receive guests, coordinate the director’s travel and accommodation, handle the director’s financial expenses, and manage the management archive.
  • For the Supervisory Board meetings, you prepare presentations, draw up the agenda, action points and minutes, and support the chairperson if necessary.
  • You will coordinate internal events (e.g. company meetings) plus facility matters as contact person for building management and our house, Amare. You can be asked to facilitate specific internal projects.

Who are you?

In addition to a passion for arts and a positive and proactive attitude, you recognise yourself in the following:

  • You have a higher professional education (HBO) level of working and thinking.
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in an international non-profit environment such as an NGO or cultural institution.
  • You have excellent written and spoken Dutch and English language skills. Meetings and correspondence are often in English.
  • You are discrete and reliable and have a good sense of relationships and interpersonal dynamics.
  • You are a team player who enjoys working across departments and facilitating smooth collaboration.
  • You take initiative, set priorities, and can handle deadlines well while continuing to work accurately under pressure.
  • You have an affinity with dance and NDT in particular.

What We Offer

At NDT, we believe our strength lies in our people. We are committed to creating an inclusive, diverse, and inspiring workplace where every team member feels valued and supported. No matter your background, identity, or ability*, we welcome your talent.

You can expect:

32 vacation days (based on full-time)
   Pension plan
Travel allowance if you live outside The Hague
A warm, informal, and international team culture
Access to professional development and training opportunities
Access to OpenUp, a platform for mental wellbeing and personal development
