About the choreographers

SPENCER DICKHAUS

Spencer comes from Minnesota (US) and was trained at The Juilliard School in New York. From 2008 until 2012 he was also part of The Juilliard School Ensemble. In 2012, after his education, Spencer joined NDT 2, in which he danced for three years. In 2015 Spencer made his appearance in NDT 1, in which he danced until 2019.

zAHIRA SULIMAN

For years Zahira danced at Crosstown and discovered her passion for dance: “I discovered that dance for me is a heartfelt language to express myself. Honesty is very important for me and dance is a very pure form to work with honesty.” In 2016 Zahira graduated from Codarts Rotterdam as a ‘dance teacher’. For each target audience and context with which she works , energy and intention are leading in the experience of dance. Dance is about people, every person is unique, at which both body and mind are activated. From her own experience Zahira is convinced that your development in dance will be the strongest if you’re open for yourself and each other.

LEA VED

Lea comes from Colifornia (US) and is trained, just like Spencer, at The Juilliard School in New York. From 2009 until 2013 she was also part of The Juilliard School Ensemble. Subsequently she danced at RUBBERBANDance Group in Canada: a dance company that focuses on the work of choreographer Victor Quijada, whose style is a combination of breakdance, classical ballet and dance theatre. After three years in Canada, she left for the Royal Swedisch Ballet in Stockholm (Sweden), one of the oldest ballet companies in Europe. Since the summer of 2018 Lea dances in NDT 1.

Lea about creating for 'Here we live and now'

For this project, NDT 1 dancer Lea Ved is amongst the upcoming choreographers that are invited to create a short performance and present this on the Korzo stage. In this interview, the American dancer and creator talks about how the two creative expressions of being a dancer and choreographer enrich each other, about her process of working on a new piece from scratch, and how to dance with gut presence and trust, even amidst heavy uncertainties.
