Alexis Hawkins is geboren in Dallas, Texas en heeft de Colombiaans-Amerikaanse nationaliteit. Ze volgde haar opleiding aan Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts en studeert aan The Juilliard School (Class of 2026). Tijdens haar studie danste zij in Augmented, een samenwerking tussen Studio Wayne McGregor, The Juilliard School en The Rambert School, die in 2026 werd gepresenteerd in Sadler’s Wells East, en DUO (extended) van William Forsythe in 2025 en Studies on a Farewell van Kyle Abraham in 2024. Daarnaast danste zij in The Nutcracker bij Phoenix Ballet / Master Ballet Academy in 2021. Sinds seizoen 2026-2027 danst Alexis bij NDT 2.
