Over het werk

Voor deze uitgebreide interpretatie van Into the Hairy (2023) hebben NDT en Sharon Eyal Dance S-E-D de handen ineengeslagen. Het stuk werd oorspronkelijk gemaakt voor een kleine groep maar brengt nu twee gezelschappen samen in een uitgebreide cast van meer dan 20 dansers, om zo een nieuw perspectief op de unieke wereld van het stuk te verkennen. Samen met co-creator Gai Behar en originele muziek van kunstenaar en componist Koreless heeft Eyal een suggestieve, verontrustende en dystopische reis gecreëerd.

Into the Hairy is een sterk, eigenzinnig werk over de kracht die ontstaat uit kwetsbaarheid. De bewegingstaal is hypnotiserend, ritmisch en ongrijpbaar – het resultaat van geïmproviseerde bewegingen die zijn gevangen en samengevoegd in een uiterst zintuiglijke en virtuoze vorm. Gekleed in bodysuits die iedere beweging en spier accentueren, creëren de dansers een afstandelijke en wereldvreemde sfeer en laten het publiek in vervoering achter. Into the Hairy zoekt de grenzen van de moderne dans op door klassieke dans te verbinden met de underground clubcultuur.
