Nederlands Dans Theater > Sleepless
In this work for six dancers, choreographer Jiří Kylián’s décor – a synthetic back wall comprised of eight large sheets or strips, with hidden spaces between each – converts the stage into a place of illusion, fantasy and unexpected connections. Kylián’s composer Dirk Haubrich adapted the slow passages in Mozart's Adagio and Rondo KV 617 in C major, a later work for glass harmonica and other instruments that Mozart composed for a blind girl whose virtuoso performance on this extraordinary instrument impressed him. As a six year-old boy, Kylián saw the glass harmonica in a small museum for musical instruments in Prague.
